My friend is getting married

As an introvert, I don’t have a big circle of friends. I do have friends, but the ones I can truly rely on are the kind of lifelong friends I can count on one hand. Interestingly, all of us are currently single, though that’s only for now. One of my closest friends, who I’ve known since middle school, is actually getting married in a couple of months.

I’ve been caught up in the search for the perfect dress for her wedding. I’ve been to the mall and tried on what feels like a million dresses. I’ve also ordered a bunch online to try on. So far, I’ve returned three that didn’t work, kept two, and I’m still waiting on two more to arrive. I have a short torso, so one-piece dresses never fit quite right. They’re either fine below the waist and loose up top, or the other way around. Plus, with the fact that I don’t have as much up top as I’d like, finding a dress that fits properly has been a bit of a challenge. I’m determined to find the right dress though.

I’ll be traveling for the wedding and spending two nights in the Texas Hill Country, which I’m actually really excited about since I don’t travel much. As anxiety-prone as I am, I tend to find everything exhausting, so I usually avoid it. But when it came to RSVPing for the wedding, I didn’t hesitate—I responded as soon as I opened the invitation.

There are some really cute cabins and airstreams you can stay in, and I seriously considered reserving one. But in the end, I decided to go with a more familiar, brand-name hotel instead. Since I’m traveling solo—and did I mention I have anxiety?—I wasn’t sure about staying alone in a cabin on a campsite.

In case you’re wondering, I’ve been pretty responsible with my spending so far, even though I’ve been tempted to buy a lot for the wedding trip. I’ve stuck to my budget, but I’ll admit, I could probably be even more disciplined. I don’t usually get manicures or pedicures, but I’m thinking I should make an exception this time. I want to be as polished as possible for my friend’s wedding.

As for my exercise journey, I haven’t quite started yet—I just need to find the motivation. On the bright side, I’ve kept my word about cutting out beef, and surprisingly, I haven’t even craved it, which feels pretty good.
