Serious question: Does anyone still blog? It was really popular when I started in 2008. I went through so many domain names; my first one was “Stinky Malone”. I can’t quite remember why I picked that name, but I think it had something to do with a nickname I had for my dog, Hana, back then. She was the bestest girl and I miss her every day.
It seems like everyone is focused on being in front of the camera these days, whether it’s vlogging on YouTube, creating clips on TikTok, or whatever else the kids are into. Everyone wants to be an influencer! As an introvert, the last thing I want is to draw attention to myself. But I still feel the need to express my creativity, and journaling has always been a passion of mine. Blogging feels like a natural extension of that. For someone with anxiety, keeping thoughts bottled up can lead to such chaos in your mind and then kaboom! Panic attacks. I haven’t had one in years. It could be that I’m handling situations better or that I’m on the good meds… LOL
If you’ve been around for a while, you might have noticed that most of my posts are no longer available. When I decided to simplify my blog and focus on it again, I chose to start fresh—except for a few favorite recipes that I wanted to keep and share. Over the past few years, the only platform I’ve really kept up with is Instagram, where I love posting photos of different dishes. I just haven’t enjoyed blogging as much the past few years.
The old Current a Fare was a bit chaotic, much like my mind at times. I struggled to pinpoint what I really wanted to focus on—food reviews, sharing recipes? I’m a huge foodie, but I don’t see myself as a food influencer; there are already so many out there. I want this blog to be a space where I can share my daily thoughts alongside food-related topics every now and then. After all, having a domain called Current a Fare wouldn’t make much sense without talking about food!
I’m not sure if there’s a market for what I want to do with this blog or if it’s already saturated, but I’m going to give it a shot. Anyway, what’s everyone having for dinner tonight? I think I’m going to unfreeze some homemade Hamburger Helper I made. I’m too lazy to make anything and the version of HH I made is really good.
