My brother finished his fellowship last summer and finally has a full-time adult job. He’s doing great and even got me the Lego Boutique Hotel as one of many thank-you gifts for all the moral support I gave him while he was in school. He remembered me mentioning the hotel during the holidays when he was home and decided to send it to me. I haven’t opened it yet, but I’m excited to build it. I’m not sure where I’ll display it once it’s finished, but I plan to add lights to it when I do.
My brother and his fiancé have a ton of Lego sets between them, but this hotel is my first one. I’ve always wanted to start collecting and building them, but they can be pricey, and the ones I really want are especially expensive. I really love all the different types of buildings they have. The Natural History Museum, the Botanical Garden, and all of the Harry Potter sets are definitely at the top of my list.
We had Legos growing up—I’m in my forties now—but I don’t remember them being as fun as they are now. The sets have really evolved, and there’s so much more creativity and detail in them these days. They’re so much fun to collect!
I remember having dinner with a colleague many years ago, and he had pretty much all of the Lego Architecture sets displayed around his house. It was really cool to see—those sets have such amazing detail, and the way he had them arranged was impressive.
I’m not sure when I’ll find the time to build the Boutique Hotel, but I guess it’ll be one step or build at a time. Do you like Legos? What’s your favorite set?
